Making of an Egg
Part 2 - Soooo Many Eggs

After taking a series of pics with various flash angles, I was ready to get started merging the images together to create the final egg. I started by examining the pics and deciding on which parts I like best. Out of about 50 pics, I decided on just four that to use in my composite. These four each had some unique characteristic that I wanted to include in my final image.
First, texture. This image showed the texture of the surface of the egg because of the oblique angle of the flash to the surface of the egg.
Next, the lip of the egg. I wanted to show the wavy, broken detail of the egg. This image had a nice contrast with the light to side and slightly behind the egg.
Next, the back lip. The image of the front lip was shadowed along the back edge and so wouldn’t do. I used this image because it gave a nice rear edge and would blend well with the final image.
Finally, translucency. Once I saw this image, I knew that I had to use it somehow. Here, the egg is light from behind and the yolk and shell are translucent. I would work this glow into the final image.
Now that I have selected my images, I can start the process of merging them together.
